Summer fetes are an unmissable British tradition that the whole family can get on board with, and here at Hog Roast Alford, we never pass up the opportunity to get involved when these events are being hosted nearby!
We love the vibrant atmosphere, the old-school games (welly wanging and tug of war, anyone?), competitions and raffles, but most of all, we love treating locals to our unbeatable hog roasts. So, when event planners Frankie and Tom got in touch with us a few weeks ago to invite our crew of caterers along to their community event, we were ecstatic!
Leading Hog Roast Alford at this event was our catering manager, Rob, who, like Frankie and Tom, was glad to wake up to warm, beautiful weather on the morning of the fete. And knowing that the balmy temperatures would most definitely encourage more guests to show face, Rob had made sure to select one of our weightiest hogs for the occasion, which took him and the team all morning to prepare.
They first started by scoring the skin of the pig before rubbing it down with salt. The final touch was pouring water over the meat, immersing it in a deep layer of homemade sage and onion stuffing and leaving it to slow-cook on the grill for the rest of the morning. As the pork sizzled and spat, the juices from the meat dripped into the stuffing, which is what creates the intense flavour our client’s always come back for! Bulking up the feast, Rob had also prepared grilled vegetable and halloumi skewers, a large batch of mixed fries and bowls of gourmet coleslaw and fresh salads for the guests to sink their teeth into.
There were also plenty of other stalls for the guests to enjoy, some of which sold homemade jams, freshly-baked goods, arts and crafts items and so much more, which kept the guests occupied for hours and hours!
As for Hog Roast Alford, our team did a brilliant job of satisfying the hungry guests at this event, and Frankie and Tom couldn’t have been more delighted with the service our team provided!
