At Hog Roast Walcott we have been a part of just as many lavish wedding celebrations as we have been much smaller, more intimate and personal wedding celebrations. Neither is better than the other, but each has their own merits that we enjoy as the caterer.
This past weekend it was a more intimate wedding celebration that we were a part of. We find these kinds of wedding celebrations can feel even more special because the focus of the day can become more specific and magnified. In this case, for our bride and groom Ash and Michael, the focus was to be all about the vows, friends, and of course good foods. Sometimes all you need to really celebrate a marriage is to enjoy good food in good company – one of life’s simplest yet best pleasures, as we have seen time and time again at Hog Roast Walcott.
Despite it being a more low-key ceremony and celebration, our catering manager Rob figured that just meant we had to amp up the style of our foods since even more of a focus would be on them. In such cases, our delicious southern slow roast menu is just the thing to suffice. Cooked low and slow, our southern slow roast delivers the smoky and spicy flavours of the American south, where the traditions of communal outdoor dining really take precedent. So, throughout the morning and afternoon Rob had our BBQ pork butt, our Texan style beef brisket, and our pulled quarter of minted lamb all slowly simmering and cooking away so that they would be deliciously tender and jumping with flavour come Michael and Ash’s garden party. For those that chose to, our selection of hickory bourbon BBQ sauce, Cajun hot pepper sauce, and smoky sweet BBQ glaze could amplify the heat and flavour some more! Where a little bit of cooling was required amongst the table games, our creamy gourmet slaw, seasonal leafy greens, and medley of regular and sweet potato fries were up to the task.
With the intimate evening ending with a fire pit and smores, we at Hog Roast Walcott can easily say that we had an excellent time with Michael and Ash for their very special wedding day!
