As a caterer Hog Roast Louth has regularly been on hand for various sporting events. Sometimes it is for spectators of a football or rugby game, sometimes it is for the players or athletes themselves as our dining provides instant refreshment and energy after a tiring performance out on the pitch.
But our catering has also allowed us to play spectator and cater to some of the most novel, new, experimental, and upcoming sports of the last few decades. It’s hard to imagine but new sports are developing and growing all the time. As a caterer, Hog Roast Louth have been well placed to see what new sporting activities have grown over the last few years. We’ve even got to try our hand at a couple of them during quieter downtimes.
Lately, the two most obvious new growing trends in sports have been HYROX and pickleball. HYROX is one of the more intense sports we have caterer for in the last few years. An evolution of the previous cross fit craze, its combination of strength with cardio and endurance makes it one of the more tiring sports we have catered for – and therefore one which needs plenty of fuelling both before and after the fact!
Pickleball has also been a fun one to watch grow in the last year or two! We must admit that we were a bit hesitant when we first heard the name and had no concept of what the game actually is. It turns out it has nothing to do with pickles – much to the disappoint of our chefs who were already envisioning combinations with our gourmet burgers and pork roasts…. Instead, it is like a slower version of tennis mixed with table tennis, and despite name and appearance is incredibly fun and tiring. Again, fertile ground for a caterer like Hog Roast Louth!
But that is not all. Even just earlier this month we saw dragon boat racing for the first time, which is one of the more colourful and rhythmic sports we have taken in in quite some time. It is sports and events like this that help keep the Hog Roast Louth team on our toes, because there is always something to discover still with our catering services!
